Theres a question that has come up lately more and more that should be addressed. Where do I find information on this game? Sometimes those of us that are deep into the game don't even recognize how obscure some of this information is. Hopefully this will help just a bit. 1. First of all, most of you reading this have a guild. Hopefully Forsaken-Souls. :p That really is your quickest and most up to date source for information. Even if those in the guild don't have the answer right away they can likely point you in the right direction, and there are several in our guild that will start up the search as soon as they discover a piece of trivia they don't already know. Feel free to ask questions. Helping out is fun for many of us, and makes the hours of work put into testing and exploring our characters seem a bit more worthwhile. We can also point you to resources that we have, like the links in our Discord server that might be useful for answering your questions. 2. Reference pages like gamepedia. https://neverwinter.gamepedia.com/neverwinter.gamepedia.com/ This is essentially wikipedia for Neverwinter, and its great. Its not perfect however. So use it as a reference, but always confirm what it says by finding it in game once you've found what you were hunting for. Once you get used to navigating this site there are graphs of information that will be useful in maintaining and upgrading equipment, pets, enchantments, etc. If you find a mistake, you can even edit the site yourself without too much hassle. 3. So what if you're looking about information on a build for your character, which feats to choose, powers to use, boons to take, pet to buy, or artifact set to add to your collection? There are sites like MMO minds, builds posted on other guild websites, Reddit, and many more. Feel free to read these and get ideas on what might... MIGHT be a good idea. Take these with a hefty grain of salt however. Caveat Emptor! If you look you will find that most information posted in these places about Neverwinter is old. The game was heavily documented by very active players when it first came out years ago. Several waves of retirements and rules changes have come and gone and very few of these resources have been updated to keep up. 1 point of etiquette. Do not ask for assistance from guild mates per #1, and then discount their advice quoting something like MMO minds. In almost all cases the active player will have more up to date and thoroughly tested information than a random build posted by 'someone on the internet'. Honorable mention: Neverwinter game forums, and Neverwinter Reddit: https://www.arcgames.com/en/forums/neverwinter#/categories https://www.reddit.com/r/Neverwinter/ Be very careful with these last 2 however. There is a -vast- amount of bad, incomplete, old, and/or misleading information available there. They are a good source to find out what the new rumors are, and research from there. Heavily verify and test and claims about how a power 'should work' or what build/class/item does what, where, and when. So how old is too old? Well changes can happen at any time, but in general: Generally anything that is more than 2 years old is too old to consider useful. Read it as entertainment only. Between 1-2 years old: This may have some nuggets of wisdom, but expect there to be significant differences in the game compared to when they wrote it up. Between 6 monthes - 1 year: This has some merit and most things in the game will be the same as when the item was written. Mods come out generally every 4 monthes, and sometimes the changes there are quite stark, so be aware of what the most recent major changes have been, or ask someone to review what you're looking at before making major investments. Today - 6 monthes: This is the only stuff that can be seen as 'modern'. With mods and now 1/2 mods making major changes to the game, one really has to be reading all the time to keep up on what pieces change. Within 6 monthes however its good to look at.
