Welcome to this years Simril! Its one of the main seasonal events that happens in Neverwinter. After having gone through a few, we've uncovered a few tips that may come in handy before the end. This won't be a comprehensive guide to everything, just an important tip on the gifts.
So grab your presents and lets take a look!
There are a lot of activities in the Festival of Simril. If you know what to look for they can be very handy.
First and most obvious are the gifts. What to do about those.
If nothing else do the 2 quests from the mayor everyday, with each of your available characters. The more the merrier here. The quests are 'Star Stuff' and 'Omens of the Stars'. The most important one here is 'Star Stuff' that gives you a 'Starlight Voucher', but both together take less than a minute to do. This is the source for the gifts that everyone in chat is raving about.
Use that voucher every day to buy a free 'Starlight Parcel' from the Zen store. The voucher will disappear in 24 hours if not used. Do not just open your parcel right away. As with many things in NW theres a trick that can improve your odds.
When you hover over your new parcel (or the image in the zen store) you'll see a count of how many you've opened so far this year. "You have opened x this year." is up at the top of the tooltip. Ideally you want to get that to 20 before opening any parcels.
How can I not open them, and yet open 20? Good question!
Thats where 'Omens of the stars' comes in. Aside from the little Fortunes (which you can save and sell for higher prices later in the year) you get a Star of Fortune. That can be used to buy a Gift of Simril at the Star of Fortune store (the vendor with the mimic out front).
These Gifts of Simril are what you gather to form gift parties. So gather these over time to get 5 or so and proceed with a gift party. You give up yours and everyone else in the party gets prizes. Do it with your guildies and friends mainly however, as there is no guarantee that others will do the same for you. Though by the end people usually have so many that giving away extra is more common that 'scamming'.
What we're really looking for here are the Starlight bags that come out of those gift parties. The items come from these are all character or account bound. So fun, but not the ultimate in value. The important piece of information here is that they count as a gift opening for purposes of the Starlight Parcels too. .. and what comes out of the parcels is not bound!
They appear to drop the same prizes in roughly the same quantity. ..so you are maximizing your chances of dropping unbound sellable prizes like the hammer of gond or mysterious charger.
The whole procedure takes a while to explain in detail, but really isnt all that complex.
