Equipment (aka “eq” or “gear”) Once a player hits level 70 in my guild, they are usually quickly handed a set of Chult Weapons and a set of League's Elite gear, as it can be crafted by those that have acquired the recipes from Chult. The items can also be bought from the AH for relatively cheap. The ease of acquiring these items leave them asking “ok, thanks for the gear, now how do I get better gear? What content should I be running?” Previous to Mod 12, you would simply start running dungeons to get seals and eq drops. This includes the follow now outdated, but still available, sets:
- Alliance - Elven Other outdated equipment available from the stronghold vendor includes the following: - Company - Dragonflight However, when Mod 12 “Jungles of Chult” hit, they didn't want players to be “left behind” so they made higher item level eq easy to aquire. This includes: -League (crafted or AH) -League's Elite (crafted or AH) -Pilgrim (tarmalune bars for chest/arms, AH for hat, Zen market for boots) -Chult weapon set (crafted or AH) So to answer the above question of what to do after you grab your League gear: take a look at the Relic armor set and start working on its associated Storm King's Thunder Campaign. You will also want to start running epic dungeons to earn Seals of the Protector. The unrestored pieces of relic armor can be bought for Seals of the Protector in PE as well as the components to restore it. This eq has 3 levels of power. In order to keep it at its strongest you will need to get voninblood which can be acquired in SOMI (sea of moving ice). This gear can also be “Vivified”, which takes it to a higher tier which also has 3 levels of stats depending on how full you keep it with voninblood. Vivified Relic eq has some nice stats, but the Voninblood upkeep can be a real drag. Also, in order to Vivify this gear, you need to aquire a once-a-week drop from doing the Master Assault on Svardborg trial. It's somewhat rare these days for people to run it and will only get harder to get groups together for it with Mod 13 on the way. Another option for stepping up from Elite gear, is doing the Hunts in Chult. There is a lot of steps to getting the pieces of equipment available there, requiring “trophies” from special mobs that get put together into “lures”. More info on hunts and lures can be found here. Weapons I generally like to just guide people and not tell them “do this” or “don't do that”, but in some cases its necessary so that players don't waste time for useless rewards. One of these cases is where weapons are concerned. Chult weapons: save your AD and buy these! DO NOT go after the Elemental sets (given by Morningstar in PE) or Twisted set (from running Epic Demogorgon). These shouldnt even exist in the game anymore as players that dont know any better will waste a ton of time in a boring grind just to get a weapon set that is far inferior. The Chult set is cheap and has the same stats and weapon dmg as the current Best in Slot weapons (only differences between sets are the bonuses). Mod 13 has just been announced and with that comes new weapon sets. After taking a look, I would recommend that players hold off on grinding SOMI for the Relic Set or River District. Focus on advancing the Chult campaign with a cheap set of Chult weapons (as mentioned above). There is going to be a stronger weapons set available for purchase with campaign currency that has better stats than any of the current sets. Another note on weapons: pick up a weapon enchant. Its a nice damage boost and worth the AD. There is usually a relatively cheap weapon enchant on the AH, that being whatever is dropping out of the current lockbox. Nearly any will do, so its fine to pick up the cheap one. You can trade it out later for one that suits your build/class better. In summary, when you first hit level 70 work on earning a bit of AD and: #1 -buy the chult weapon set from AH #2 -buy a set of League's Elite gear #3 -buy a cheap weapon enchant These gear upgrades will get your item level up and help you get into the epic dungeons.
