Binds in NeverWinter There are more commands in the game than you can see. Its just some of them can be rather awkward to get to. You can open up a whole new set of possibilities just by writing a few words in the chat window. I'll outline some of the more useful ones here. Some of these you can do in the keybind section of options, but not all of them. Format
Almost all of the following are entered in the same basic way. You go to your chat window and enter this a command like this (Including the slash.): /bind x command The '/' character tells the game that you're entering a text command, and not just chatting. The bind command that we're using attaches the key you choose ('x' in the example) to something you want ('command' in the example). If your command has multiple words like the example below, place your command in double quotes (""). If you want to put 2 commands on the same key use $$ between them. Lets look at a real example and see how it works. /bind 8 "genaddwindow auction_root" The above lets me press the #8 on my keyboard and bring up the auctionhouse. Note the key is up to you, and you can make it whatever makes sense to you. I just happened to choose 8 for mine. These get saved to your character and stick around even after you log out. Letters already in use If you use a letter thats already in use, like 7 that is normally for using your mount, your command will replace the old one. You will have to find a new key to put on the old command. If you don't like your new setting anymore, use '/unbind' with your key to bring back the default command there. Or if you made mistakes you can't figure out, reset to defaults in your options. Most of the time its just easier to choose unused keys. Special Keys You can use special keys like shift and control as well, which makes finding unused combinations much easier: /bind ctrl+l gotocharacterselect The above lets you press control l (thats the lowercase letter L) to go to the character screen. So lets see some useful ones for everyday life: (I will show x or my keys, feel free to customize) Auctionhouse /bind x "genaddwindow auction_root" Character Select Screen /bind x gotocharacterselect Set chat to guild channel /bind ctrl+g "channel_setcurrent Guild" Moving your tab power to another key /bind x "specialclasspower 1" (this works on cw, it may be different for some classes) Interact with an object in a crowd of people (perfect for the telescope during simril) /̶b̶i̶n̶d̶ ̶h̶ ̶"̶+̶+̶i̶n̶t̶e̶r̶a̶c̶t̶"̶ (Dont just overwrite f with this, or you wont be able to rez people. Many people use h.) After mod 16 the above would crash the game. New command is: /bind h "interactincludevolume" Quit the group and Queue group at the same time /bind ctrl+q "team_leave $$ gensendmessage match_leavermrg activate" Open the astral zen exchange /bind /ctrl+a "gensendmessage currencyexchange 1" Summon or Unsummon your pet /bind ctrl+p "gensendmessage Pets_Summon_Unsummon_Button Clicked" A fast way to getting to the 'defeat me' command, killing yourself to become unstuck /bind ctrl+k "gensendmessage Stuck_Defeatme activate" Use a potion in the first inventory position: (I have the first 6 positions bound like this) /bind f1 +InventoryExec inventory 0 /bind f2 +InventoryExec inventory 1 ... ID and convert blue/green EQ to RP: Now with autoloot this is especially important. This is a fairly advanced bind that does multiple commands in 1 keypress. Copy the entire line below from / to the final ", and paste it all in at once. /bind ctrl+r "inventory $$ gensendmessage Inventoryoption_Identifyall clicked $$ gensendmessage Inventoryoption_Refinebulksalvage clicked $$ gensendmessage Bulksalvage_Addequipment Rowactivated" It works when you push ctrl+r (That is the control key and r at the same time). Feel free to change keys if you wish. Push the key 3 times in a row:
Dont use it when another dialogue is open like an invoking result. This can keep the bind fromloading your items into the conversion area on the 3rd press. CAUTION! If you have blue gear like the vixtani gear in your inventory that isn't marked as protected it will take those as well. Mark them as protected if you want to hold onto them. Useful Keybinds for VIP (I will show x or my keys, feel free to customize) Travel Sign: /bind f10 "gensendMessage Vipaction_Overworldmapteleport activate" Mailbox: /bind f11 "gensendMessage Vipaction_Mailbox activate" Bank: /bind f8 "gensendMessage Vipaction_Bankvendor activate" Profession Vendor (Good for selling items to): /bind shift+f9 gensendMessage Vipaction_Professionvendor activate Teleport to Moonstone Mask: /bind f9 "gensendMessage Vipaction_Moonstonemaskteleport activate" There was one for a salvage anvil, but that went away with mod 15. New with mod 15 is a Seal vendor (good for selling off your seals of the Brave for AD) /bind f12 "gensendMessage Vipaction_Sealvendor activate" For the base vip window, not so useful when you can go direct to all the others. But here for completeness. /bind <key> gensendmessage Vipaction_Root 1 Useful in fights (For some classes, use of this will be expected for endgame) My new version of this has 2 commands. This will be the most complex setup we've covered here so far, but its super handy and worth learning. (Note this is slightly different, and hopefully easier than the setup we have listed on our Discord.) /bind ctrl+h startchatwith "/alias tar target " /bind z "tar $$ hardtargetlock 1 $$ +PowerTrayExec 2 $$ hardtargetlock 0" This is used to put make sure you are able to target someone or something with a power, and never miss as long as you are in range. This is a must for Dev OP using Bane or a DC using Exaltation on teammates. That way even if you teammate is hidden behind another or behind a boss, you can still hit them for the buff. If you are one of these classes in end game content, other players will expect you to know how to do this.
Full explanation of the format of the above things for the curious. (This won't be on the test.) The ctrl+h command is using an 'alias', which is a fancy bind that links commands to words. In this case were using it to write out a command in the chat window to create a variable to use in the fight command. Due to the wierd way that NW treats aliases and variables its necessary to do it this way. Aliases don't save between game sessions, and variables dont save outside the command they were created with. Hardtargetlock 1 toggles on a 'hard target lock' which forces you to aim at the target (being entered by the tar alias). Powertrayexec 2 uses the command in the 2nd position, which for us is Q. Other command slots can be used by changing that number. Hardtargetlock 0 turns it off, so you're not stuck looking at the same target forever. + uses a command as a push button. ++ uses a command like a toggle.
